Welcome to the Space or Die world!

Space or Die is a booster, an octave up and a weird overdrive you can combine to create your own custom boost signal. This is an extremely fun pedal to play with if you like fine tuning your favorite gain pedals or amp distortion into madness.
It can create weird lo fi octave up tones to catastrophic wall of distortion and drone type of sounds like in the Boss FZ-2 or Life Pedal when combined with a fuzz or distortion. Place it in the loop of your delay/reverb or in combination with modulation effects and prepare for lots of fun. It can enhance your tone or transform it into a liquid nightmare!

We initially used these circuits in some old big enclosures that had a visor where you could look through and look at some lysergic space scenes. They were very fun to build; had no footswitch and you could even hang them on the wall. But as these old enclosures are extremely rare to find, we decided to create a pedal version of it with the exact same circuit and sound. And here it is!

And how it works?
The LEVEL knob controls the intensity of the octave up that goes into the signal. This octave up generator is actually a Green Ringer circuit that will add a swallowing, splashy layer of sound as you turn up the LEVEL knob in any of the two modes. We have modified the circuit by using Schottky diodes, making it louder and more detailed on the treble frequencies.

And as the pedal name suggests, you are forced to choose between two modes: in SPACE mode you have basically a full range clean boost tuned to accentuate some frequencies in the low range. You can use it in combination with the octave up effect rolling up the LEVEL knob or simply use the boost by setting the knob at zero.

The DIE mode plugs into the chain Electra distortion, a very primitive sounding overdrive fine tuned to give a lo-fi grit that you can combine with the octave up effect using the LEVEL knob. You can use this extra distortion for still more flexibility or a crude overdrive. A simple layout for endless possibilities!
